Database Configuration Assistant (DBCA)  in Oracle
reads the ORATAB file (/etc/oratab) to abatain the database list.

If no entries were found in /etc/oratab, then "Delete a Database" option would not be available (gray out).

Therefore, the entry can be added to /etc/oratab to delete a unused  database.
